The Western world in the twenties and thirties had a great fascination with all things oriental and places in the Far East began to export pieces made specifically for the tourist market. These pieces combined classic design elements of the Asian culture with a slight western twist to the cut and colors. These little silk jackets where among the most prized of the era and this one is a beautiful example of the period. It is made of a pretty pastel hued green silk that is woven through with a secondary thread to create the design that you see over the outer surface. The inside is a brilliant red silk that offers high contrast every time you get a peak of the interior. This is a lovely example of the textiles being produced during this time period.
